Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some common questions I get asked - I hope this helps to clarify things!

  • At ADHDifferently, I am a private-pay practice, which means I am not in-network with any insurance companies. You pay for sessions directly at the time of service.

However, if you have a PPO or another plan with out-of-network benefits, you may be able to get reimbursed for part of the cost.

    Here’s how it works:

You pay me directly for each session.

I provide you with a superbill — a special receipt that includes all the information your insurance company needs.

You submit the superbill to your insurance company (usually through their website or app).

Your insurance decides whether to reimburse you based on your plan’s out-of-network coverage and deductible.

    It’s important to know that:

Reimbursement amounts vary — some clients get a significant amount back, while others receive little or none.

You are responsible for checking your own benefits and submitting the superbill.

Payment for services is due at the time of our session, regardless of insurance reimbursement.

If you’re unsure about your coverage, call your insurance company and ask:

“Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient psychotherapy?”

“What percentage is covered after my deductible?”

“What is the allowed amount for CPT code 90837 (or 90834)?”n text goes here

You don’t need a formal diagnosis to start ADHD counseling. If you suspect you may have ADHD, we can explore whether this diagnosis fits together. If you’d like, I can also support you in obtaining a psychological evaluation for ADHD testing and diagnosis.

  • No referral is required. You can reach out directly to begin ADHD therapy in Pennsylvania.

  • Yes.

I am licensed to provide general therapy and specialize in ADHD treatment and other forms of neurodivergence, including autism. I also work with clients experiencing co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and mood disorders.

  • While substance use concerns are common among people with ADHD, I do not provide primary treatment for substance use disorders.

However, if you are already in treatment for substance use with another provider, I can support you with ADHD therapy while collaborating with your care team to ensure safe, ethical, and effective treatment.

  • At this time, I can only provide ADHD therapy for clients physically located in Pennsylvania during our sessions.

That said, there’s good news. In 2025, House Representative Aerion Abney introduced legislation for Pennsylvania to join the interstate compact for Clinical Social Workers. The bill passed the State House on June 4th, 2025 and is now under Senate review.

If approved, I’ll be able to offer ADHD counseling to clients across multiple states under a compact license.
